Opportunities
The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is forming a rapid response cohort of Science and Technology Policy Fellows (SPTF), and applications close on August 5th. As Congress works on multiple legislative efforts, scientific and engineering expertise is needed immediately to inform federal policymaking. AAAS is seeking scientists and engineers from a wide range of disciplines to provide a rapid response to this urgent need on Capitol Hill. Congress is preparing to meet the urgent need to shape AI policies, and AI-STPF fellows will be extraordinary assets in helping to understand political, social, cyber and economic impacts for our country and the world. The Stanford Internet Observatory is a cross-disciplinary program of research, teaching and policy engagement for the study of abuse in current information technologies, with a focus on social media. The Observatory was created to learn about the abuse of the internet in real time, and to translate our research discoveries into training and policy innovations for the public good. The Observatory sits in the Stanford Cyber Policy Center, part of the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies. We love their work, and they are currently on the lookout for a program manager.
